Painting Pottery Day at Leith

Today I went to the Ceramic Experience in Leith with Rebecca and Fiona. We got a really good deal as part of Itison and so we weren’t really sure what to expect.

It. was. awesome. Super fun! You pick some unglazed pottery and are then let loose with paints. No time limit and they even sell tea and cake although you can also BYOB!

You can paint the table to test your design, and they have stencils and sponges and stamps, as well as aprons if needed

My camera decided to delete my photos during upload, but here you can see Rebecca’s tea set and my dino plates.

They look all pastel and cute but these are the unglazed masterpieces – I’ll post the results of glazed goodness as soon as we pick up the pieces in a few days.

It’s been *how* long?

A year. A year since my last blog post. Not really sure why but I have just promised myself to blog at least once a week – if only to get out the knitting and xbox angst.

Knitting: current projects include a lovely mohair lace scarf which i’m not making it for anyone in particular and a massive frankenblanket of odd yarn squares which might take me two years to finish based on current estimates.

Xbox: Haven’t got xbox live at the moment – boo! Still playing though, including ‘Viking: Fall of Asgard’, ‘Lego Indiana Jones 2′ and best of all, an original xbox classic – ‘Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis’.

My first dino! Very pleased with him, and intending on making loads more from the Jean Greenhowe toy book. They have a few species, and even some cave people that are 1 inch high! Not archaeologically accurate but I love the idea of wee people to have with the dinos.

I think this one might go to nephew number 1

Made with peter pan double knit wool and 3mm needles – I think he took about 2 and half hours? Not sure because I was watching Hitman the mobie for some of that

Matt Damon – maybe, I’ll take all my bad comments about him back

Sarah Palin. Again. Sorry. This really hacked me off though, even if only partially true.

Matt Damon, whom I previously really couldn’t stand, even the Bourne films I could only just watch, may have redeemed himself. In an interview with the Associated Press , available here, he talks about how he is worried her picking was like a “really bad Disney movie”. Although it is slightly let down by his referring to a hypothetical stand off between Vladimir Putin and Palin, the winning thing about this for me is to do with the Dinosaurs. Apparently, she reckons the dinosaurs were only around 4000 years ago, what with her creationist nonsense!

I’m off to find out more about this, because as Matt Damon says “she’s gonna have the nuclear codes”. Interesting idea. whilst he may still be a mad hollywood actor type, I slightly admire him now – for bringing the subject of dinosaurs up on the big political news!

It’d be nice to shove Palin in a Jurassic Park populated solely by Meatasaurus
