‘Tis interesting how things like Facebook and Google can help you find people you thought you’d lost but didn’t mean to. I’m off to Winchester (yes, even further south!) tomorrow to see someone I haven’t seen since July. We re-met on Facebook.
It doesn’t sound too long, but that was his wedding and the first time I met his lovely fiancee (now wife). Before that, it had been a few years. This massive gap in seeing someone I used to see almost everyday when I was at uni wasn’t on purpose on either side but a consequence of geography and growing up.
By finding this one person, I realised he was still in touch with others, and a few days later another friend request popped on the virtual doormat. I haven’t seen or spoken to lost friend 2 in at least 3 years.
I’m pretty happy at all this finding. Then, my rioja induced ponderings led me to think that the website should be renamed FATEbook – both these people now live less than an half an hour away from the metropolis I currently reside in, whereas before there was at least 4 to 8 hours of train in the way (had I known where they lived).
FATEBOOK – Maybe I should buy the domain name now and flog it in a decade for a million, like the pizza.com man did today for $2,000,000. 🙂
